Corps July 7ht.
Well I have to work backwards today, we have just finished one of the most amazing meals ever. We arrived in Corps around 6pm. Parked a car and walked along to a pleasant looking hotel, Hotel de la Poste, Route napoleon, Corpse-la-Salette. The lady behind the desk was very sweet, and explained the had rooms at different prices, the cheapest being 38 and 48 Euros but they were upstairs with no lift. One for 90 Euros with a spa and one for 58 Euros. Before we had a chance to decide she had organised a young man to show us the rooms. The 58.00 was one floor up and very nice, the next lots up many narrow steps so we soon settled on the 58.00 euro room. Quite large with 2 queen size beds, a table and a comfortable chair. Large bathroom with a bath, but hand held shower head, plenty of towels, which makes a nice change.
We where then shown where the garage was across the road, one of those first in last out. We had a 30 minutes rest before deciding to go for a walk around the village. It was a lovely sunny afternoon. Thought it might also be an idea to register
We went back to our room after the walk, not feeling quit ready for dinner. I turned the computer on, hadn't even asked the hotel about internet, figuring it was unlikely, so imagine my surprise when I found the hotel had a wireless connection, that I could get straight into.
First thing I did was to check our Westpac account, Peter had tried to get some cash out, and hadn't been able to. I was going to transfer some more money into it, BUT the last amount of money out (over $400.00) dollars didn't make sense at all. We got really worried that something had happened at the first bank Peter had tried to withdraw money from, the one that didn't give him any paperwork. I was trying to find somewhere on the site I could send an email, but there was just nothing there. No good phoning as it was the middle of the night in Australia. Eventually we thought to check for a phone number on the card, and sure enough there was somebody there. She was very helpful, and the payment we were worried about was one we had done 3 days ago, and had been from my card. So nothing wrong at all, apart from the fact we are spending too much.
So in great mood we went down to dinner. The place we were staying looked quite nice, so we decided to try it. What a good choice. They had several set menus, so we decided to go for the cheapest 19.50 Euro. Hors d'oeuvre which arrived as we sat down.
We both ordered a terrine of seafood, which was lovely. La Terrine de Caille aux Morilles, then before the main, we got a plate with as small pate and some pickled red cabbage. AND then arrived, oysters, prawns, snails and other bits.
We started to wonder if we were getting the correct menu, but the young guys next to us said they had got the same.
For main Peter had trout with some very small Cray fish (Le Truite braisee aux Ecrevisses), they filleted the trout for him at the table. I had ordered Guinea fowl with mushrooms, baby beans wrapped in bacon (Le Pintadeau aux Champignons frais haricots verts) . With this we got a dish of Potato Dauphine, the best Peter had ever had. It was all superb.
By now we could hardly move, and still had the choice of cheese or dessert, decided to go for the cheese. We had trouble understanding the cheese choice which sounded like white or green, so settled for white cheese, which I think was really a kind of yoghurt, but very nice. Just when I thought we had finished and could leave along came some lovely large almond biscuits and proffito rolls. All quite amazing. We decided against coffee.
So now back to the start of the day, which seem to pale in comparison to our wonderful meal.
We took the airport shuttle to the airport to pick up our rental, a pretty painless affair. The car was lovely a Peugeot 407. Automatic, we had decided we were too old to both drive on the right and change gears
Once past Grenoble the countryside became very beautiful, with mountains, fields and lakes. The weather was lovely too, might be moving towards summer at last.
We decided to stop in Corps at an altitude of over 900 meters, it's only a small town, only one church.

Leaving Lyon
. She wasn't at all worried. Gave us a form and said to fill it in when ever. We went back to our room after the walk, not feeling quit ready for dinner. Countyside getting interesting
. The car also had a GPS, so finding our way was easy, until I must have pushed the wrong button and 'SHE' wanted us to do a U-turn. As I was sure we were going the right way I told Peter to ignore the directions. Everything was fine until we tried to get his IPod working. It worked just fine, but we could no longer hear 'HER'. Eventually we got both of them working and all was fine until we stopped for afternoon coffee and asked them to show us on the map where we were. Ops wrong road, not sure how that happened. The lady told us to just follow the signs for Vizille and we would be right. We plugged Vizille into the GPs, and 'SHE' took us the shortest route, across country. Beautiful road, but very narrow, thank goodness we didn't meet anybody. Without the GPS we would never have gone on those roads, and if we had we would have got totally lost, there were so many turns. I thought it was good fun. Peter wasn't quite so convinced. Once past Grenoble the countryside became very beautiful, with mountains, fields and lakes. The weather was lovely too, might be moving towards summer at last.
