Lyon 6th July
Time to leave Paris, didn't have any trouble getting to Gare Lyon, not to many people on the Metro. However definitely have too much luggage, haven't bought anything, but it keeps taking up more space in our bags. From tomorrow we will have a car and after that I think I will send some stuff home.
The ride on the TGV was smooth and fast. Our hotel Ibis was only a short walking distance from the station. We are definitely outside the tourist area, we decided to have lunch in the hotel, no English on the menu or spoke. Not too much of a worry and we had a nice lunch. Peter had a mixed grill and I had Beef Carpaccio. Peter's ankle was really swollen, and that was his good leg, so we decided to have a rest after lunch. I was out like a light, but when we came to around 4pm, it was raining and thundering, so we might never find out what Lyon has to offer.
Well it finally stopped raining and we went for a walk around 7pm. Walked back to the railway station, to see where the Airport shuttle left from and found there was a tram. Took us a while to figure out which direction to go to get to the old town
The trams are very modern and you can keep make as many changes as you want within an hour of boarding the first tram or metro. It was an interesting trip, didn't find the town particularly charming, but I guess most places wouldn't be on a grey Sunday evening. Perhaps if we had more time to explore the old town we would change our minds.

Gare du Lyon, Paris
. Finally figured it out, only to find we didn't have enough change, the machine would not accept our credit cards or a 20 Euro note. Only one thing for it, have to get a coffee. Price was really good, and we got lots of change. The trams are very modern and you can keep make as many changes as you want within an hour of boarding the first tram or metro.
