Our favourite place so far this trip!  We hired our bikes for the day and did the bike ride from Krems which follows the Danube River and winds through little villages, vineyards and has incredible scenery and views over the valley.  It was around 25km round trip and fairly eaisy going.  It was an incredible day, sunny weather, bike trails the whole way and cellar doors too!  It's also the middle of harvest, so we were able to taste lots of grapes along the way.  We stopped at Domane Wachua Cellar Door and stocked up on some Riesling, Gruner Veltliner and Blauer Zweigelt for the trip.  It was great to check out the winery and see their vineyards because we'd enjoyed their wines back in Australia.

When we made it to the last village of Weibenkirchen, we found a grassy place to sit under a huge walnut tree overlooking the Danube and enjoyed some of the Domane Wachua wine, with freshly cracked walnuts.  It was total bliss!

The next day we headed to Salomon Winery for some wine tasting and were lucky enough to get a tour of their winery.  We'd also drank their Gruner back in Australia so it was interesting to see their winery.  These guys make some Aussie wines too.

Definately a huge highlight of our travels!
