Got pulled by park police because I (Paula) was driving too slow!! Didnīt want to say we were on bear watch!! He checked to see if I had been drinking but I was just being careful not to hit any wildlife and the roads are quite windy.
First night we stayed in Tamarack Flat - gorgeous night, practised taking nightshots with our new gorilla pod (bendy tripod), went a nightwalk and thought we saw 2 mountain lions, we were Sh**ting ourselves, but when we checked the footprints the next morning they were just dear tracks - ho ho ho!!
Went back country hiking (with bear proof canisters) to Glen Aulin (6 mile hike each way), part of (albeit a very small part) The Pacific Crest Trail which runs from Mexico to Canada. Cannot recommend it enough, the countryside is absolutely pristine, good for the soul. The main reason we went to that spot was because seemingly they have resident bears that poke around the bins. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your position, we didnīt see any.
