You hear it all the time.  "You can't go back!"

Well, I say you can.

We just can't expect the same things to be true.   I change.  People change.   Towns change.   Dogs die.  Nothing is the same.  We are either climbing up the scale of life or precariously sliding backwards into some obis called reality.

I entered the sweet little town of Shelby today about 12:00 noon.  This is the town I was born and raised in.  Things seemed to be right where I had last placed them.  But something was different.  I stopped at the Shelby sign for a time and pondered the feeling I was experiencing.  I realized that very little was different with the exception of one thing.

I was the difference.  My Creator has been busily recreating Me for years.  The difference I was feeling came with my perspective.  I see things differently now.  My road to most all new discoveries have been amplified by one huge change.  I no longer judge.   Life grows easier when judgment is left behind.  People are kinder.  Conversations flow softer.  Dogs barking leave me less nervous.  Problems in general just seem to be less dramatic.  What has allowed me this new perspective you say?  Only one answer to this.  Learning to live in the present.  It has become my most welcomed blessing.  The "Shelby" sign has taken a whole new meaning.  I left Shelby in 1964 a broken, nervous, sad little boy looking to lick my wounds in some new place only to discover that the change needed to be on the inside-not the outside.  Today, my Creator has re-built my brain, heart, and soul into someone who loves to love.  Someone who wishes to become a blessing in everyone's life.  And now I am experiencing the results of this change for this type of change affects all who are around.  It is nothing unique to my character.  Anyone who wishes to live in the present can experience these wonderful, revolutionary changes.  You don't have to be smart.  Just tenacious.  You don't have to be crafty, just submissive.  You don't have to be ANYTHING other than that person God wishes you to be.  Stop pretending.  Be yourself.  Halt all acting and just BE and watch God bless your life.  We are humans  BEING.   God just tells us to be still.  Develop a quiet spirit and listen.  The answer may just surprise you.  Guess who you will discover?
The real you that God wishes to use.  You don't have to run away.  You don't have to discover the other side of the mountain.  Just relax and be yourself.  And then obey...
Enjoy the pictures!  They will be coming all week.  This is Fred's life.
My love to all.

My FrienDerick--

Your thoughts about returning to Shelby, returning to your past, and finding that YOU are what is different reminded me of a Robert Frost poem called "Into My Own." I'll quote just the last few lines:

"I do not see why I should e'er turn back,
Or those should not set forth upon my track
To overtake me, who should miss me here
And long to know if still I held them dear.

They would not find me changed from him they knew--
Only more sure of all I thought was true."
