Took a day trip out to Sedona, which is about 2.5hrs north of Phoenix. Really pretty. You drive into & through the canyon, rather than looking down at the canyon. The colours are something right the way throughout the rock layers & different structures we saw.
Again, it was hot when we left. Sedona is at about 4000ft, so was around 10 degrees F cooler than Phoenix.
Drove north through Oak Canyon which follows a creek then climbs up quite steeply & into pine forests at the higher altitude.

Looks lovely, and quicker to get to than our canyons, either at Kalbarri or further afield in Kakadu
