The Adventures of Frankyo Tokyo (Part 1)
Entry 2 of 7 | show all | print this entry |
Arrived to the airport at 1:30, the flight was delayed(supposed to arrive at 1' o clock)... The airport's name is SkyWest Airport. Dying of hunger and a place to rest, $9,050 Dolla Bills in my hand(flight cost $950, Delta Airlines). It's a good thing they accept American money here. Some Japanese guy was asking me something, I unfortunately did not know what he was saying, so I just pointed to the bathroom place (I think he was aking me where the bathroom was). Took a cab to my hotel, conveniently a mile away from the airport(man was that one crazy taxi driver). So here I am it's 1:47 p.m. and i'm about to take a nap update this tonight.....
What a day it's been, besides running away from a Japanese vandal squad, getting cluelessly lost, almost beaten with a stick from an old man whom I apparantly disrespected by shaking his hand (don't ask why), everything turnes out fine. I visited 2 historical sites in Ueno park. There are 4 museums there I decided to visit 2 of them. The first one was the Tokyo National Museum.
This museum was splendid and I learned a lot there. It is the biggest museum in Japan. 1 of the things I learned there was about the Meiji era, which was a special time period in which a Mejii emperor ruled. It was this time in which Japan began to modernize itself and rose to world power status.. This era means "Enlightened Rule". I also learned about the art of Buddhism and ancient samurai. The second museum was called The National Museum of Western Art, which I found very interesting. The arcitect for this museum was Le Corbiuser. It had quite modern art.
Around the park there was a Mcdonalds which surprisingly had a sushi burger(horrible tasting) but I finished it. since I ate breakfast in the plane and some snacks in the hotel I was full for the day. The weather was supposed to be nice and warm so I enjoyed it this day. Walking around Ueno park was a blast, I threw some pennies in the pond and got in trouble by some old japanese guy, I am not welcome in this park. It is 8:30 p.m. right now (way past my bedtime! just kidding) I'm going to explore Tokyo's night life in two hours. peace out for tonight~
p.s. the guy who I share this hostel with is an African-American named Brandon who is just looking for street gang trouble hope I'm not involved.
Luxury Budget 10,000 -950(airline roundtrip tickets) 9,050 -500 (Conrad Hostel 6 day-night stay) 8550 -60 (Tokyo Metra 7 day pass) 8,490 - 10 (Mc d's) 8,480 -50 (Tokyo Night Club entrance fee) ----$8,430 left---
