After many hours on planes and buses, we were ready to hit the beach. We began our trip by busing from Buenos Aires to Mar Del Plata, on the east coast of Argentina. The water was warm and the food delicious. After a few hours on the beach, we got bored and headed to the habour. We saw sea lions and fishing boats then walked along the pier. But where Amanda likes look at cute animals, Frank likes to eat them; the steak there was unbelievable(the best heīd ever had) and the seafood was good too. Rounding out the highlights was the wine and ice cream, legacies of the large number of Italian immigrants living in Argentina. But perhaps the most interesting phenomenon was the packs of retirees heading to the casinos in boat shaped flashing buses. Working our way south along the coast we spotted more sea lions, some penguins, seals and other wildlife.

TRIP HIGHLIGHT 1: Snap lesson in Emergency Spanish
Getting locked in our rooftop hotel room, Frank climbs out the window in the rain, while Amanda instructs him in the fine art of Spanish Vocabulary.(first " hello " then an embarassed "help")

TRIP HIGHLIGHT 2: Lost with Nowheres to go
Walking on a gravel road with our packs in the mid-day sun, past a military outpost, we later realised that we couldnīt find the campground we were looking for because it had closed to make room for a hotel.(and had no sign)
