Feb. 8th & 9th
We walked in and around Dunblane, which is a small ancient and ultra cute village. Found some fabulous pie shops...see photos. The river Allan is what we have to cross to get back and forth, but there are a few pedestrian bridges. We looked inside the pubs and are dtermined to start trying the locals. Yesterday we were feeling crummy from jet-lag, so neither food nor booze was looking great. We drove to the University of Stirling (Uof S) and found the campus to be a dream. What a beautiful setting, on a huge loch with swans, the Wallace monument and the Ochil hills in the background. Had to make an appointment for the bank on Monday, so can't get a library card even without that info! Then registered at the medical clinic and have our appoinments on Tuesday. They wanted my last English address, National Health Number (you gotta be kidding) and my last Doctors's names from which clinic....yikes, all from 1974!!!!! Where is my mum when I need her!
Getting car insurance is still a thorn, but will prevail after we get a bank account. Still no wireless internet, so no Skyp or emails accept when we get to the library (closed Sat afternoon & sunday). Jet lag still a problem, but had hot milk rather than tea in the middle of the night this time. More thumbnails ...
