Wuppertal to Trier
Entry 24 of 27 | show all | print this entry |
Dad, James and Seb visited Mums old house on Saturday and were very pleased to see that the new owners are still the same and have spent a great deal of money doing up the house. We have been eating so much food here in Germany and Dad and I have been having a few beers each night, not good for the weight!!! lol. I think I might have to check in for a stomach stapling operation!!! Any one willing to pay? Yesterday being Sunday we drove south west to Trier, we are spending three nights here with Mums best school friend, Christiane and her two sons and husband. Mum went to school and grew up in Wuppertal with her. Its sad as Christiane has never been to NZ due to money reasons and now she has enough money and was planning on coming over in next few years but now Mum is not about. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and had the oldest church in Germany which we visited this morning. They live in a wine region and tonight we have visited some wineries and tasted some local wine. There are mountains of different beers in Germany, ever town and city has its own breeds. We listened to the rugby over Internet without pictures, and have been keeping up with the useless black caps and the warriors seem to have major problems!! Euro soccer huge here, we went to a bar last night and watched Germany beat Poland 2-0. Its really massive and most cars have German flags on them. We have been very lucky with the weather, mostly sunny with odd cloudy day, sometimes pollution blocks sun, no rain or wet weather thank god. Only 1 week left in Germany then England and its all over. Dinah and Bernd in Wuppertal were greats hosts, I think they should start a hotel, on Sat we went kageling which is sort of like ten pin bowling, it was very fun. Over and out
