Day 318 ;

Day started off early up and out by 7 and onto our first bus straight into the city centre, buses all run on time and are quite cheap, had a short walk from getting of the bus to the ferry terminal.
The city actually looked like a proper city this early in the morning all hustle and bustle, it was nice after spending this long out of busy towns and cities, you start missing it.

The ferry was next, cheapish, quick, and on time and we where on the island in no time.We eventually decided to take a shuttle bus from the port after missing the bus and not wanting to wait and hour for the next one, it cost about 18 dollars for a short ride, it didn't seem to bad and saved us a long walk trying to find the place.
Introductions to our hosts Dave and Sue went well, we got told all info and things to do, didn't have to start the work today as they had too much work on, bit of a shame as we wanted to get straight into it.
Got our room, quite cozy not sure how warm we will be though.

The sun was shining out so we went for a long walk up and down till we reached the beach it was beautiful, the whole island is one of the most scenic & beautiful we have seen, such amazing views.

The beach at Onetangi was huge and sand covered, didn't spend long as we knew we would be back.Sat and waited for the bus to the main shops.
Food shopping done we walked back, quite a mission with heavy bags as it is hilly everywhere.
Back at our pad we had some food and read for a bit until we both fell asleep, woops this was no little nap, by six we finally work up!

Food, more reading, tv sleeeeep

Day 319 ;

So first day back at work after 11 months of not lifting a finger and it was not a nice feeling!

Phil I think got the good job just cleaning out stones in gutter type things to stop the house from flooding in heavy rain, I however got the gross job of cleaning a fast food van, I think everyone will know what I'm referring to, if not it is a greasy meat fat covered burger van used at markets that you smell from a mile away, so not too impressed but got it done and by the time I was finished it was shinning, glad it was done.

Enjoyed reading and relaxing in the sun for the rest of the day so can't complain too much!
Found a sweet little patio area tucked away round the side of the house, all protected and gets the full sun from about 12 till 5, where the cat curls up in the that's where you'll find me!!!!!

Day 320 ;

Onto day two of the working peoples, how the tables turned, I was working in the kitchen helping out with food prep for a wedding they are catering to, it was cool,& learnt a few thinks I will hopefully remember so I can do them at home, cous cous balls with prawn filling.

Phil had a list of to dos from sweeping to climbing trees to cleaning out chickens, glad I got the inside work as it was raining pretty hard!

The sun came out by twelve, so more reading, went for a walk to shop, which sounds easy but this place is just hill after hill and you seem to be walking up hill more than down!

Day 321 ;

More work boo, I did more food, Phil continued with his list, I think we are both pretty fed up with working now, not like working at home, its just boring work with no challenge and no use of the brain which we knew it would be but very glad its only one week.
Sunny so went for a walk on the hunt for the beach ended up walking way further and getting a little lost and the sun decided to go into hiding!

Day 322 ;

No work today yippie! But with not having work we slept in pretty late.
Went for a walk to and around there Saturday market, it was a bit of a shock there was about 15 stalls most of which sold food which didn't exactly look that nice but cost a fortune, a few car boot stalls and a few make shift selling made bracelets and the usual nick nacks, pretty uneventful really, more walking got some food from the shop and headed back. Sat out in the sun reading the book...
Phil had to help at the wedding doing washing up, got back 5 hours later sounds like he had a laugh, it was a big Russian wedding so quite different.

Day 323 ;

Our day of exploring.... got up at a good time and set off for the bus stop, only a short walk but even a short one here takes a lot of effort, first stop ....... The town centre a few nice shops selling bits and bobs, walked down to the beach sat talked in the sun, a perfect way to spend a Sunday, next was palm beach, got some chips from the chip shop sat on the grass a dug in, although the chips where a bit of a let down - oven chips deep fried are definitely not chip shop chips!

Walked down the beach and found a shady spot it was so so hot, the beach was really busy, there will be a lot of red people about later!
Went back to get the bus and had to get an ice cream and being indecisive got two scoops, one goody goody gum drops and the other lime, both quite strange and not up on the favourite flavour list, shared that and then on the bus.

Shop more food back up the horrid hills and lunch.

Day 324 ;

Not a lot to tell today worked for two hours cleaning Windows nice and easy job Phil mowed the lawn, cleaned our hut up did washing, walked to the shops Phil has had a pretty bad eye not being able to open in the sun light and stuff so got some eye drops, he is walking around wearing my sun glasses which just looks silly but he doesn't seem to mind, least he can actually open it, it seems to work and make it a bit better so fingers crossed.
