Day 276 ; 11th Home hill

Day 13 Australia road trip

Kilometres travelled ; 397

The day started of well with phils first accident of the day, usually when closing the back door you move your head out the way, Phil decided to try and shut it with his head in it, I of course was a good supportive girlfriend sat there in histerics taking pictures! Just hilarious!

After that we made our way to Airlie beach to see what it was about as it seems to be a big point of interest, it was a lovely little town, the marina had so many beautiful big boats moored in it, after speaking to a German guy last night we found out that the big boat races had just finished a few days ago so a bit of a bummer we missed that, we sat and had some lunch in the van, it seems like a really expensive place so not somewhere we can afford to stay....

Back on the road Phil was getting a little stressed out with one particular truck as the driver had decided to sit about an inch off the bumper of the van, eventually Phil, after winding him up a bit, pulled over and the lovely driver flipped him the bird, how sweet!!

Back on the road to Bowen looking for a place to stop but they seemed pretty hot on the old camping in car parks so that was a no no, went down the beach and it wasn't exactly nice so just carried on going. Now that place was one of the weirdest yet, like they've half built it and then just kinda stopped, and no one moved in, half the roads are unfinished, the place is deserted and it was just weird.

Phils third accident of the day, once he was finished filling up the van with petrol he gave about a dollars worth to the floor of the garage and only realising when he felt something cold on his foot!?????! This was then closely followed by accident number four, for around twenty km driving in third gear doing one hundred the whole time, nice one, only realised as fuel had gone down quite drastically!

On wards and upwards, we got to Ayr, we popped into the information centre and with all the information centres we have been into the lady was so helpful and gave us a few options of where we could spend the night including where the information centre was, had everything, so stayed put, until the evening that was when the lovely blood sucking vapires - pain of all travel, decided to come out in force and have a field day, we had become breakfast, lunch and dinner, JOY!
Decided to lock ourselves in the van with Windows shut, it worked they couldn't get in but we couldn't breath, we decided we wouldn't be able to cope with either option, cooking or being eaten so left the park and headed back up the road 9km to home hill comfort stop, just an unused area at the back of shops, they had it all set up with toilets, hot showers, kitchen and electric for applinace and this was all for free! SCORE!

Night night!
