Day 168;

Today started off pretty much the same as always, getting up and heading to the bus depot to get picked up, had a little mini van with only 2 other people in it so we were extremely comfortable and could strech out to enjoy the short journey.

Arrived in Sihanoukville, after a long discussion with the tuk tuk driver we went to Otres Beach, it is exactly what we have been looking for, white soft sand and cheap accommodation with the extra benefit of good places to eat!

After a small snack the sun bathing commenced along with swimming and reading.

Went back to our room and the owner and 4 Cambodian guys were all sitting drinking which looked like they had been doing for a few hours already.
We got collared and told to sit and beer put in front of us and pretty much told to drink.After a few beers bottles of wine came out and so the drinking continued, then they brought out some rice also, at this point we were in the beginning stages of the evening and already quite drunk.
An hour or so later andreas a French guy got pulled into the group and he to was told to drink!
Hour more and we were on the move three pretty drunk people on scooters and us following in a tuk tuk, randy - one of the Cambodians, worked at the 4 star hotel and was the director of food and beverages so we headed to the best hotel in the area, it was huge, sitting in the bar we had more beers served and sugar peanuts, I am pretty sure the peanuts saved my Bacon it could have been ridiculously messy otherwise, so 4 bottles of red wine, countless beers and now on to our third bottle of champagne - served to us in ice bucket as well as poured for us - we all went for a swim in the sea on the private beach the hotel owns, very nice apart from lots of rocks ideal for hurting our feet, back on dry land we each had been given a towel after drying off and drinking some more we headed in a tuk tuk to a club of some sort, got let straight to the VIP room and the dancing and karaoke began, they tried teaching us how to dance in their traditional style, I think we may have failed miserably but we did it laughing our heads off!
More dancing more dancing and then to a taxi to be drove round for a while cos they didn't have a clue where our place was, after a while andreas told them that he knew the way so we went on foot and walked for about 15minutes and we had arrived back, thought that the one bar still open may possibly be doing food but no, finally some water aaaahhhhh! Phil and andreas still on alcohol what can I say they are hard core I am not!
Spoke to all the very drunk people in the bar, one girls 21st birthday.
Last people in the bar so after a short time we headed to bed and we both passed out!

So to sum it up, they got us drunk by eight o clock - didn't want any money. Took us to a four star hotel, which looked more like a five star, set in grounds bigger than the five star we stayed in phnom Penh,even with its own private road. We were waited on, given complimentary everything, given a small tour, taken to the private beach - didn't ask for a thing.
Then taken to the VIP room of a club in town, waited on, more complimentary drinks. Just crazy, no one even mentioned money, how lucky were we to have been part of the night?? Absolutely unreal.

Really cool to have met them all, two of them worked at the Independance hotel on Independance beach, one worked in a hotel in Phnom Penh and had done internships through his studies all over the place, including Spain and he spoke French and Spanish as well as English - only 26years old, the other was forty, had been head chef at a five star Sofitel hotel, was still getting offers to work all over, but was doing a five year stint with the non profit organisation NGO in Phnom Penh, working also with childsmile and a group called PSE, a French organisation - giving education, giving the children 21 skill groups by the time they finish and then training them and finding them work placements - he kept telling us to come visit him in Phnom Penh, that our accommodation he would sign for, meaning free, free this free that, just to show it all to us I think.nuts absolutely nuts and it was just really amazing sitting and talking with this group - to look at them you wouldn't think it, but looks can be deceiving and what an amazing bunch!!
