Got a couple of hours just to play around on the beach with the kite.
Day 67 ;
Got about four hours today, in the water, bodydragging up and down wind, and water start and up on the board, we surfed for about ten metres so pretty damn good! yehaaaar! we got it finally, wasnt pretty but a good end to it!
Day 68 ;
Today he gave us the equipment and basically said go get on with it, the first quarter of an hour wind was strong, and like the honourable gentleman, ladies first (joking, she always keen to go first) and i did try to give a little warning on the strength but soon got told to butt out! and watched as Claire got slingshotted around and launched straight out of the board - the most spectacular exit from the board, ( wish we had it on camera) you have to make a power manoeuvre to make enough power to stand up, but just a little too much and ping!! bye bye Claire, nice knowing you! as you watch Claire flying away from you at 30 knots, horizontally , head first then get dragged in a big tangled mess underwater.brilliant.
We did manage to get up and ride for a short distance,happy about that but spent a lot of time trying to stay above water fighting waves and fighting with kite as the wind died right off.
Battered and bruised but loved every minute and can't wait to get to have a go again. The final episode of Claire's day was as we were leaving the water, fighting with being pulled by the kite that has crashed just by the water edge, getting smashed in the back by waves, a big one took her out, I was holding, lost my feet fell straight on top of her back, proper dunked her, nearly squashed her then again was like, ok where is Claire? as we're rolling around in the waves trying to find the sky, reached under the water felt her harness and yanked her up, looked a bit like a drowned disoriented frog at that point, I don't think she knew which was up! v.funny! poor Claire. minding her own business rolling around in the wave that just knocked her over and some fat git falls on top of her, squashes her then gets all the air squeezed out of her by being picked up from behind by the harness,lovely!
Now we have finished and no one has to worry we can say that not one speedboat or jetski to be seen, maybe a life guard every half hour drives up the beach, maybe, a safe enough environment to learn in but you are pretty much on your own, something quite nice about it just not really what we're used to.
o Simon signed us off and certified us to level 2, so we are officially IKO Certified to an intermediate level, wohooo! happy happy and time to leave!!!!
