Yes indeed, if you do take a sleeper coach, they are very good, but do get a bottom bunk, much bigger, and get one away from the front, unless you don't mind being kept awake by every tom,Dick. knocking on the door to the drivers cabin moaning about being cold or wanting the toilet or a cigarette or blah blah blah... well here's a tip, don't drink if you can't hold your bladder on a NON STOP bus ...Der... (and you do get a couple of stops)...don't smoke unless you are able to go more than a few hours without one, and best of all, don't pay the extra expense to get an AIR CONDITIONED bus if your going to then whine about being cold...DERRRRRRR.. and make everyone else sweat and also have to pay more for something that they then can't have??? or..
Still, all good fun, the bus is good, reliable and comfortable, definitely a nice way to travel, bar the broken sleep but its to be expected really.
Got into to Margao at five in the morning didn't want to mess about so took a taxi, of course after speaking to some random Indian dude on the street always nice at that time in the morning... one beach not really what we were wanting, Majorda, so back south to Colva - a couple of km's.
Dropped into an atm booth, someone sleeping on the floor in a blanket in the room...India.
Thought we had a long cold wait ahead of us, but no, what else would you expect in India, some old bloke wanders over, you need room? mmm okay, off you go and your being checked in to a beach resort at five thirty am by someone wrapped in a blanket!!
We got the 'cheap seats at the back please' as we like to call them, in Colmars, take a right when facing the beach at the main road, again literally on the beach though so perfect really,
Slept, wandered along the beach, looked like blackpool's Indian equivalent, the guide is correct obviously, colva has long been the beach retreat of the wealthier domestic tourist but good food again and beautiful stretch of sand so who the hell are we to comment!
Here you can jet ski, take banana boat rides (and can't think the real name) - take the parachute ride off the back of the speedboat? and everything else, but being what it is here, you will probably have to pay through the nose for it, the jet ski's you can get for a LOT less than what they offer them for as we were told after asking around.
So another day here tomorrow and then we move, we were so tempted to get off the bus last night/this morning and go back to our favourite place so far, and we still.might yet......hehehee
Oh and Claire has finally given in and is reading a book, so that's the last I'll see of her!! she will have her nose well an truly stuck in the books from now on - she's been reading for about ten hours so far!! The kite runner I think. My fingers are ruined from all the guitar - pads are coming back now so won't feel it for much longer!
