After being dropped off by our mothers at JFK we began our trek through the airport. It was ridiculous how far the gate was from security. When we finally got to gate 4 they announced that our flight was actually leaving from gate 8. After boarding the plane it took forever to actually leave because apparently there was luggage on board that belonged to people who hadn't made it to the flight, which I don’t understand. Did they get lost somewhere in the airport after checking their luggage?

Anyway, as we taxied, Colleen or Adora kept saying "are we about to take off," and Emma would, very authoritatively, say “no.” J

I got to witness Emma during take off (let’s just say it’s not one of her favorite things about traveling) and by the time dinner came around I had a really horrible headache. I slept on and off throughout the flight, I don’t think Adora, Colleen or Emma slept much at all and with about an hour to go, I woke up feeling right as rain!

Meanwhile, throughout the flight we each got to individually take advantage of the in flight entertainment. (30 Rock and Castle for me, Date Night and Dear John for Emma, Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Cougar Town for Adora and CSI and Percy Jackson for Colleen).

When we finally arrived in London, we, of course had to go through customs. Our agent was really funny. He asked us our ages and, upon hearing them, replied “ah, so you’re here to drink,” which we found hilarious. He was very nice. Then we got on the good old tube towards Cockfosters (a name which I found quite funny the last time I was in London and this time amused Adora and Emma). After 23 stops, we got off at Kings Cross and boarded the 73 bus. Which took us by Angel Station and through some very cute parts of London. We also met a very nice woman, who inquired about our travels and where we were from. When we got off, we walked past my favorite curry shop to the house we are staying in for the next six days. Thanks Tierl for letting us crash in your living room! Now we are all exhausted! Later Turkish food for dinner and then the world cup match! J

Hi Girls - Adora, Emma, Hannah & Colleen!
And thank you, Hannah, for setting up this blog.
It is good to ha ve a window into your world during your trip,
to know what you have done/are doing and where you have been.
More photos, please, if possible!
May you fully enjoy the "planned part" and be joyously surprised by the
"chance part."
Enjoy the play Monday - good you are getting to the theater!
Have you had any "fish and chips" yet? They're not as prevelant in London.
The Nationa ART Museum with its famour plaza is pretty enjoyable, if you
havn't been there yet - Adora, you were there 2008.
Both the Shakespeare Theatre and New Art Museum nearby along the river across the bridge from Saint Paul's Cathedral are pretty interesting, too.
There's so much to do and see!
My Blessings with you all - PEACE, Catherine
