Caught the train from Genoa (Italy) to Nice in France, after somehow managing to find the drop off depot in morning rush hour in the centre of Genoa, just in time to catch our train! Glad the driving bit is over.
Booked in to a rather dingy hotel, but it served its purpose being close to both the station and the beach.
Spent our 5 days on the French Riviera, visiting local beaches, Monaco and Antibes.
Monte Carlo was right up Tom and Rob's street! Never seen so many flash cars, especially outside the casino and to top it all, there was an international karting race taking place on the Grand Prix track which was great to watch.  Visited the Palace and oggled at all the private yachts and motorised boats in the harbour. This is certainly the land of the rich and famous.
Were in Nice on Saturday 13th October for the world cup rugby semi-final between France and England.  Decided to go and watch the game on the big outdoor screen in the town gardens with some French bread and a bottle of wine. Very festive, but we were sorely outnumbered by the French supporters who were not impressed with Greg's very loud and hearty rendition of the English Anthem. We left quietly after the game!
The good weather continued, so we spent a lot of time in the water, soaking up the sunshine on the beaches and strolling through the French markets sampling local food.
Can't complain about the French Riviera, just wish they'd do something about all the dog crap!
