After having lunch with Matt, Julia, and Jay. I got a quick tour of the hagwon where I'd be working and was then put up in the "Toto's Hotel" to sleep off some jet lag, as my apartment didn't have furniture yet.
No doubt, the joke was lost on everyone else, but the hotel's name couldn't have been more perfect as I was definitely not in Kansas anymore.
On my second day in Korea, I was thrown to the lions - set right to work without any training, which I found out is the norm. My first class was full of tired middle-schoolers who wouldn't have anything to do with me. I guess it didn't really matter though, because if they were actually listening to me they would quickly find out I had no idea what I was talking about. The day wasn't completely horrible though - I had a student tell me I looked like "God" because of my beard. I took these events as signs of "interesting" days to come.
