Still in Sihanoukville
Entry 12 of 32 | show all | print this entry |
So we have had our fun on the beach finally. Sihanoukville has bee a lot of fun (we're leaving tomorrow) and to be honest it's been nice to have a rest after a fair bit of travelling. Although the area around the backpacker ghettos and the beautiful beaches is not particularly attractive, the town is fun to be in, it is the sort of place you can chill out in or party all you want - it would be easy to spend longer here if we so wished. So basically Jen and I have spent 3 solid days on the beach, the first as previously explained on the packed Occheuteal Beach with its beggers and kids ordering you to buy a bracelet, the second two on the much more quiet Otres Beach. The second beach , apparently Cambodia's widest (god knows), was beautiful and very peaceful compared to the other one, there were enough people selling stuff so that we both managed to get a full body massage for the best part of 40 mins and for Jen to get a pedicure, manicure and buy the customary sarong - all for less than a tenner. We lounged outside a food shack which sold amazing mexican food, it was run by an American man who seemed to do nothing but fraternise with the hippy like people who came to visit him all day. Anyway, we had fish tacos which were great and banana shakes which were also great. All day. In reality there isnt an awful lot more to say about this place, we have, as I said, been relaxing and thats not much of a spectator sport. Tomorrow we are going to Siam Reap, gateway to Angkor Wat, by bus - 10 hours, daytime, cant wait - where we will also meet some of my friends who are travelling if all goes to plan. So, keep up sports fans
