Rick and I headed out early on Sunday morning to Bergamo. It is kind of like a district, I guess you could say, outside Milan...it's like a small town in the region of Lombardia. Okay enough with the history lesson.
Our train there got stopped for like a half hour because our engine died! We had to wait for a new one to come pick us up...we always seem to have the train stories...Anyway, when we got to Bergamo, we headed straight for Upper Town. For those of you who don't know, Bergamo is made up of Upper and Lower Town. I believe Upper Town is the older part. Upper Town basically overlooks Lower Town (you'll get what I mean when you see the pictures).
Rick and I found the Funiculare, and took it to Upper Town, and started to walk around. We wanted to see how high we could go into Upper Town, but every time we took a path, we'd follow it, and it would just take us back down to where we started! But we did eventually find the overlook, the view was absolutely amazing. We had the perfect day. We also climbed the bell tower of the church, which allowed us to see even further out. The Alps were in clear view.
There was a juggler, so we stopped to watch him. Then we tried to find the second Funiculare, but we just kept going in circles. We saw a lot, but there definitely a lot more to see, we're probably going to do another day trip there. But for now...I'm tired...ciao ciao!
