We had our first design classes today!! We had class in the morning from 10:15-12:45, and then class again from 2:00-4:30. We had two professors in the morning class, Silvia, and Sezgin, and then in the afternoon, we had industrial designer Davide. We finally got the details of our project, we also decided our groups and companies. But first let me explain the project....
The course is called Exhibition Design 2006, and for the rest of the semester, we will be designing, with our groups, an imaginary exhibition space for an actually company. The exhibition space we are designing will be designed as if it were in the Salone del Mobile 2006 (which is Europe's Largest Furniture Fair in the beginning of April). My company is Moroso, they are mainly a furniture company.
The first part is to research, we will be doing this both inside and outside of class
The second phase is the actual project. We have to take the space allotted for our exhibition and in the end present sketches, computer drawings, renderings, animation, and a model with four presentation boards: concept, scheme layout, communication, final project. We divided ourselves up into four groups of three.
Anyway, Tuesday was such a long day, classes almost straight through from 9:00-4:30! (I'm not complaining, I need stuff to do, its just they have the lights off in class from like 10:15 until we end...so I like fall asleep. We had an hour or so break for lunch, so I high tailed it over to the gym for a half hour workout, then grabbed a panini and headed back to class. Since it's starting to stay lighter later, I think I'm just going to hit the gym straight after out later class on Mondays and Thursdays.
