We had a nice drive over the hills to Tamworth, great scenery AGAIN!
Trish has ALWAYS wanted to visit Tamworth and had hoped we could get here when the Country Music Festival is on but that's in January so maybe next time...
Had a quick stroll around the town and checked out the sights, looks like we'll have a busy couple of days here for Trish to soak it all in...soaking has commenced, so far we've been to the "Hands of Fame" - which are impressions of hands of all THE country stars, sorry to say we haven't heard of a lot of 'em...next stop The BIG Golden Guitar, which houses a wax museum of THE country stars and again sadly we hadn't heard of a lot of 'em...Trish REALLY needs to brush up on her C&W music and the stars involved...not coming back until she knows them all.
Tamworth is a beautiful city and well worth a visit, we stayed in "Paradise Tourist Park" but then again everywhere is paradise when I'm with Trish :). Went to the Power House Museum and had a great tour conducted by Barry, great info and a great laugh...did you know that Tamworth was THE first city in the Southern Hemisphere to have electric street lights? Well it was! The view from Oxley Lookout is great and there are nice walks around the hills from up there, the view is very similar to the view from ANZAC Hill in Alice Springs.
Decided to head from Tamworth to Tenterfield, then Texas....hhhmmm looks like we've gone from towns with strange names to towns that start with "T"...no matter...

Is that Oz country singing then?! Must plan my next trip for a January and make it to Tamworth to check it out. Enjoy Texas, the home of real country music!
