Very easy of course getting out of the airport - no customs as we're in the EU - this may change in the future, but suited us fine.  Ours were some of the first bags off, and before you know it, we were out and straight to the rental car office, where we'd hired 2 cars - one for us, one for luggage, and again that was extremely efficient (they still had all our details in the computer from our trip last year).     Out of the airport following our GPS (we bought the Europe programme in the U.S. on the internet, and had got it mailed to Fort Myers), and after a bit of a 'detour' we did in fact find the rental office for a villa we had organized....

Bad news and good news.   Bad news was that the 4 dbrm Villa we had booked for 800euro a month had become unavailable (owner decided they wanted it for New Year), and I wasn't impressed.  We were all VERY tired, from such little sleep over the last 3 nights, but we kept our cool, (there's no point getting upset) and we we're blesssed with some Good news - 5 bdrm villa available with pool, large grounds, views to the ocean, 2 minutes from the beach and fully furnished.  For our 'inconveince' they would offer it to us at only 1000euro per month. (It had been advertised at 1500euro, which was why I'd never equired about it).  We looked it over, very briefly - it was absolutely perfect!  It's like a mansion compared to our 'truck on wheels', and we knew it was great value.

So, after the paperwork was completed, we phoned Telefonica from the office and ordered a phone and broadband internet connection, and moved in (that's the short version).

Kids are very excited!

By the time we shifted our bags in (and the kids had picked their rooms), it was after dinner time (not for the Spaniards, but for us definitely), so we went to a local Chinese restaurant 500 metres down the road.   Not normally a great fan of Chinese myself, but it was the general concensus and it was easy.  Pleasantly surprised, nicest Chinese meal I've had in a long time.

End of day one - exhausted and very, very happy.
