WOW!  - This place is just amazing - more so for it's simplicity and nature.  Everyone, is out first thing in the morning walking, read their papers in their chairs on the beach, and kids are building sandcastles at 7.30am.  They are there like this all day, just enjoying family time and company.  As the night draws in, the beach comes alight with small fires, bbq, coloured lights on the RV's all with the sound and sight of the waves crashing.  This small island, on the gulf of Mexico is true unspoilt beauty.

22 Nov
We had a very relaxing day on the beach, the whole bucket and spade thing - and a wedding thrown in for good measure.

23 Nov
Another day of clear blue skies, and we'd only booked for 5 nights when we first go here, because we wanted to go down to the Flordia Keys (more expensive than here, but beautiful),  however, we decided today, that this is it.  We don't want to travel anymore.  Everything is here.  The beach is superb, the waves just right (not too rough), the water clear, the temperature perfect, the people all so welcoming and great internet service as well. We walked into the office today and booked for a another 11 days.  We're not going to the Keys.

24 Nov
The space for the RV's are quite tight - not so much once you get in, but certainly trying to park and back out, so we weren't going anywher in a hurry.  Hence our need for the scooter - great, just nip down the supermarket, pharmacy and it only cost $2 to fill up!  Tary & Harry cooked us dinner tonight ... salmon appetizers, beautiful salad entree and chicken and rice for the main.  We had it on the beach - it was fantastic.

25 Nov
Having enjoyed last night so much, Gary and I decided we'd like to go out to dinner (for the first time in 3 months).  There's a little restaurant, literally next door, so we got the 2 younger ones fed and fast asleep by 7.30pm, and the older 3 watching a dvd , and we went some few paces along the beach, and enjoyed a quick but lovely dinnner, in a gorgeous setting.  Back before the movie ended - worked for all of us.

26 Nov
Having bought an array of spades, buckets, ball games and plastic trucks, there was more than enough to keep everyone entertained. The boys have made some great friends, who according to Harrison have the most "bestest RV and we should we get one".   Of course we should, just not today, but definitely in my plans for the future.

27 Nov
Thanksgiving Day.  We joined some 80 odd friends of the RV Park, for a thanksgiving dinner (at 2.00pm).  We had to provide a salad, and they put on the rest - it was the whole turkey, corn, potato, gravy etc.  It was delicious.  It has been such a long time, since we've had such a good 'home cooked' meal, that I haven't had to cook myself.   We were the only young family there, everyone else already had their thanksgiving agendas organised; many of them got togther on the beach for the bbq feasts.  But as we were here by ourselves, we decided that it would be nice to join everyone, although the kids thought it was just for 'old people' but all the same enjoyed the dessets, even if they did spit out the iced tea!  With a thanksgiving prayer, and a beautiful hymn sung by an employee, totall unaccompanied, it really was everything it should be .. a time for reflection, thankfulness, and chance for good food in great company.   What a wonderful bunch of people!

28 Nov
You would not believe the sales here.   We don't even know what sales are!  They call this day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, as it's suppossed to put retailers from the red, back into the black.  But it is absolutely ridiculous, stores open at 4.00am, and people line up for 2 days beforehand. I mean the specials are amazing, like big screen flat TV's under $400, all computer stuff etc.  It is the biggest single shopping day of the year.   Now, I know we're at the beach, and that's probably where we should have stayed, but we're looking to get another laptop, so thought we should go and check out the prices.  We gave the kids their pocket money to date, plus a week in advance, and told them this was their last day to spend it - no more shopping please!!

Toys 'R' Us, was way too busy to even contemplate.  Gary took the kids in there, and sure there were some huge specials, but it involved toys that were way too big to fit into a backpack, and even if you did manage to find something, you then had a queue a mile long to pay for it - not an option, out of there real quick.  As Harrison did want to buy a Ninetendo game, we stopped back in at 'Best Buys' (where we looked at laptops), and Gary and kids all got into the music room, which involved drums and sound rooms, guitars, dj turntables etc.  It has cemented the Foreman chlildrens desire to form a band.

Anyway... back to our beach, albeit a bit busier now, with lots of families having arrived to join us for their Thanksgiving Weekend holdiay.

29 Nov
Just for the record, we did get the laptop, but online - being delivered to the park. Probably should have done that in the first place.  Great on-line savings here.  Spent the day at the beach, and met some people from Miami, a couple with a 5 yr old set of twin girls and a little 2 yr old boy.  Well Greta was quick to make friends, and Brad and the little boy enjoyed watching the 'Cars' DVD over in the motorhome.   We all got together for drinks and toasting marshmellows that evening, while Trent & Harrison played spotlight with their new-found friends.  Awesome day - reminds you of the more simple New Zealand life.

30 Nov
I know I said no more shopping, but the weather wasn't as good, so we thought we'd head to the factory shops down the road just looking for a couple of things in particular.  Gary picked up a pair of Nike running shoes for $17, and Tara and I got some Nike shorts for about $8 so great buying.  Heading back the weather start to get really windy, and by the time we were back and trying to hook up, it had started to rain, blow and it really felt like a little mini Hurricane - it came up so quickly.  The kids had gone for a quick swim on the lilo just beforehand, and trying then to have them showered, and back in safe and sound was a mission.  It was a bit freaky.  But, as we understand, this is typical Flordia weather.  Hard to believe when we were inside the campervan being rocked side to side by the wind, that just the day before we had been sunning ourselves and swimming along with the hordes of others families.  It was now so desolate.

1 Dec
Just as the weather turned yesterday, so it turned back today.   It was a little cooler, but the sunshine was officially out, and it was a bit of a clean up initially just getting rid of the sand off everything from the storm!   The beach is a little quieter as a lot of families left yesterday, needing to be back at work today. but there are still holes to dig, sandcastles to build and football to play....  Gary against all the kids!
