We managed to negotiate our way out of New York with no dramas, and headed down to Atlantic City, via the highway that JFK had originally opened up between Delaware and Maryland.  It really was quite a beautiful drive; the highway was tree lined, and the colours were stunning.  As I've said before the fall is certainly a lovely time to travel, things are a little quieter, and the scenery more spectacular.

Actually, up until yesterday, our plan had been to go to Philadelphia, but the weather forecast was not great, and Gary & I have been before.  We had such a great time in Phili before, but with Washington still on the agenda, we really felt the kids probably wouldn't get an awful lot more out of the history portion of this city.

Now Atlantic City was never going to be a destination point for us, but we certainly wanted to poke our head in and say Hi.  It was what I'd describe as very minature Las Vegas, with beaches.   The casinos were impressive (from the outside), and the beach would be just fantastic in summer, but was wild and windy on our visit.   However, we were very tempted to stop at the factory shops (especially when I say Coach Factory Outlet), but it only means were going to spend more money, and there's plenty of days left for that.

We travelled through Atlantic City, and came across Pleasantville (I kid you not), through Baltimore (one of the bigger shipping ports around), and ended up in a lovely place aptly named Cherry Hill, a 5 generation RV resort park, with a bus stop, INSIDE the resort entrance.   So, we're ready to see, via the public transport system, Washington D.C..   Yes, we are a little citied out, but after last weeks election, this is got to be the obvious choice for our next stop.
