Now, have a look at the photo... what do you see? Nothing? Yep! and that's about what we saw for the majority of our 500 miles (800km) that we drove today. Thankfully the roads were open and very easy. Great for sleeping, which the kids did for alot of the trip.
We went from snow covered mountains, (in Banff, Canada) to dry weather through south Alberta, to in fact a balmy spring day as we crossed the border back into the U.S. - we were down to shorts and t-shirts, and then finally managed to find snow again as we came into the National Park/Forest in Montana.
As we passed through Calgary there were 2 points of interest: 1) The Olympic Village and then we managed to see an overturned rig, somehow there was a horse trailer involved and there were half a dozen horses, fenced off and grazing happily in the median strip, while cars crawled along both sides. We also managed to narrowly miss a small herd of deer as they made their way across the highway. But apart from that no dramas.
We're nowin a small town called White Sulphur Springs (about hr out of Great Falls) at a small, hugely friendly campsite, with horses grazing in the paddock next to us. Feels like we're on a ranch. Not unlike the feeling we've had for most of the day, as we've driven through the barren, VERY windy wonderland.
