Sadly we left the Lake Tahoe area (we can see why people all over the world travel there, the rich mans playgound in winter I'm sure). Although, for those few who have chosen to live there, I would say they get the best of both worlds, with fabulous ski-ing in winter, to the beautiful lakes for boating, fishing and swimming in summer..... still dreaming .......
But one must move on, and we had decided to move on to Mt Shasta, another one of the 'places to visit'.
And it most certainly is. Definitely even more so, if you are into hiking. Obviously with 5 kids in tow, we weren't about to climb the mountain, but even from our base camp it was pretty impressive.
We had stopped at the Walmart Super-store on the way, and for those of you who know what that is, it isn't a 5 minute stop. We thought we'd get some groceries and things, and were overwhelmed by the choice and variety, everything from a coffee and soup station, to a fresh bakery (with every imaginable delicacy), to all the possible fresh and frozens you could imagine .... And that's just the food section ... we then moved onto what could be termed as a 'Farmers' with clothes, household effects etc. Some of the bargains were a tray (24 cans) Pepsi for $1.50, tempting, but no thanks - don't need a campervan with 5 hypo kids in it!!
Still had a great time ... and one can say with conviction 'only in America'.
