Parked, but only just, as we had unfortunately got up close and personal with a power pole which tore into the fabric of the awning roll outside. That was cause for a domestic. Guess something was going to happen at some stage on our journey.
Still, putting that behind us, we had some breakfast and then wandered over the Pier. It was a glorious day, right on the beach with all sorts of rides and arcades. Had a fantastic time - we had to go and put more money in the meter - twice!
Santa Cruz could be described as a 'hippy' sort of place, and there was certainly some sights to see as we wandered down the pier to observe the seals, (nb: we heard them before we saw them - very loud as they fight for resting space on the wooden barge.)
Left mid-afternoon, and found our way easily to San Francisco. We'd booked a campsite right opposite the home stadium for the San Francisco forty niners. When we arrived we went headlong to a traffic jam coming the other way - a game had just finished. We managed to negotiate our way through (not easy in such a tank), and the luckily the police directing traffic re-opened part of the carpark for us, so we could get through - pretty good service from the men in blue - (helps if you have an accent, and look lost and distressed).
