We will be keeping this travel blog to record our trips and time in Spain.  We decided to start with a short test message to make sure the account is set up correctly and this message as well as the photos reach everyone.

As you all know, we spent most of August packing and getting everything in line for our departure out of the US to Madrid, Spain.  Our journey started with a  2 day road trip from Houston to San Diego with a lay over in El Paso.  A 22 hour car ride, which is never fun, was spiced up with 2 large and 'active' ridgebacks riding in back.

We departed from Houston at 7:am on August 22nd.  Courtney got up early to "run them tired" prior to departure which seemed to do the trick.  Our girls were out for the remainder of the day - and the day after as well.  We weren't sure what to expect and began the trip armed with Benedryl should they get too hyper (at the recommendation of our vet) but in the end did not need it.

Our planned relaxing time in San Diego flew by.  We managed to balance seeing friends and family as much as possible.  But I dare say that most of the time was spent laying around paralyzed by the heat wave and lack of A/C in all of the city!  Our girls never minded though, they settled into their new temporary home quite happily and I fear have found a new love in the beach.  Prado, my parent's dog will now never be lonely!

Bright and early Friday, September 4th, we departed for Madrid.  Armed with 8 bags, we arrived safely and pretty easily to our temporary apartment.  And with that the story begins...

We wanted to thank everyone that helped us prepare for this trip, we know that without all the love and support, this trip would not be possible.

We will talk to you all soon,

Will and Court
