This morning we drove up to one of the sites Sam Hill is noted for: a replication of Stonehenge. He was so impressed with the structure in England that he copied it to use as a monument to fallen soldiers of the area during WW1. Today it encompasses all fallen war veterans of the area in succeeding wars. The home he built for his wife is now a museum of art which we were also going to revisit (been there many years ago) but got on the wrong road and was well up river before I realized we had gone the wrong way. Next time! The wrong road lead us north along the Columbia River, another gorgeous view to look upon
We drove past acres and acres of grapes for the explosion of wineries that have sprouted up in Eastern WA. Between Tri-Cities and Yakima are the fruit orchards, hops fields (lots of breweries in WA) and veggies. Hot, Hot, Hot today, so headed up into the mountains, looking for cool air tonight. Rimrock Lake Resort filled the bill. Quiet night with the wind rustling through the trees.
