We drove past black fenced horse farms to Georgetown (founded 1741) for breakfast.
We happened to find a unique little Mom and Pop restaurant called Fava's in the old part of town. It was started as a candy shop in 1910 and blossomed into a very eclectically decorated eatery over the years. Food… lots of it and excellent. I loved their flaky biscuits and Dave’s glass of orange juice was enough for a weeks worth of breakfasts. Overall it was a southern down home, friendly regulars, busy place to spend time people watching and eating.
We drove back roads to Louisville to view more of the huge horse farms (large decorative gates with black fencing criss crossing the fields). We also saw many of the bourbon distilleries that KY is so famous for. We had done a tour of them on a previous trip so continued on our way through Louisville out of KY. Every time we are in KY we think this is where we want to live…but then reality strikes with the heat and humidity making WA look very comfortable.
We are on a mission to reach MO for a quilting seminar so made time through Indiana and half way across Illinois. I didn’t see any deer at all today but we did see 3 turkeys in a field munching on something.
Big thunderstorm after parking and hooking up in campground.
Miles: 282 wow!
