Euuuuuuuuuugh the room is spinning and I haven't even opened my eyes. I
answer the vibratinf object on my pillow and hear my mums voice. Shit!!
I have a train to catch!! Hanging up the call I look at the screen and
realise I have 10 missed calls and several messages...I am sooooo

Threw for a shower I am sweating and feel faint. I stumble back to my
10 bed dorm as collapse on one of the 9 empty beds....good job I have
the room to myself as not sure anyone else would appreciate this
behavior and 5.30am!!

Lying still I can't even comprehend moving let alone packing up my life
and making my way to the station...but somehow it happens!!

I board the train, whip out my travel pillow and rest my head against the window. I feel sick.

The journey is endless. Occaisionally I open my tired hungover eyes and
look out the window. The view is the same at 8am as it is at midday.
Desert and a large pipe (which I later find out takes water to the
outback) are never ending.

The next stop is Bonnievale. I get up and go to grab my bag. One of the
really annoying young kids who have been chatting about how cool they
are the whole way, helps me with my luggage and then asks or my number.
No way am I giving out my number to this guy but I do find myself
accepting a paper blag with his digits on.

Off the train and I find myself standing on a little concrete slab in
the middle of the desert. It's hot!! There is no one in sight and I
feel rough. Lookig around me I wonder what the fuck I would do if no
one came to met me...

Suddenly a figure appears from behind one of the bushes and it's
Alistair. I hop into his car and he takes me to Coolgardie and my new
home. I meet the guys who live their and go for a stroll around the
tiny goldfields town on the main highway from west to east Australia.

Back at my new home they show me round the roadhouse and I grab some
food. The evening is spent meeting my fellow work mates. Two of whom
are from Fife. After half an hour it is clear that these guys are not
really my kind of people b ut Andy is lovely and I reckon this will be
a breeze.

Then the bad news comes. I'll be heading to Leonora for a week. What
the fuck?? Everyone tells me such bad things about this place but I am
assured I will be back. I hope so.
