Have not been writing for a while.
The period before and a bit after winter sport holidays I was not in the best of moods, major lack of energy and having the blues left me willingless to write on my website or even personal emails for that matter. Luckily I finally managed to turn around this negative energy spiral and am in the upper again.
Lots has happened and yet nothing major really. Even though I felt shitty, I am not the person to stay in bed all the time mowning about it. So did meet people, spend good times and talks with them. One of them even triggered me, unknowingly, to snap out of this negative mood. I am very grateful for that! Somehow I did not manage to do it myself.
So what have I been up to:
Continued working at Elsevier, same thing over and over. Met a lovely new Australian colleague, who lives just around the corner from me. She made me cross the unvisible border into nose-piercing land, even though she had no clue she did it. It has been in my mind for a very long time already, always pushing it off for the wrong reasons. Finally about 6 weeks ago, I just cycled to the shop and had it done!! A little pink stud colours my nose now. Even my dad thinks it looks good on me!
30th of April: Queensday in Amsterdam! Orange as far as the eye can see, people dancing, drinking and selling secondhand stuff on the streets. Live music everywhere, sun shining! The ingredients for a good party! It should have been the reunion of wintersport crew, but with huge crowds its difficult to meet up. Michel and Eric were the only ones sticking to the plan, and good times we had! Even cruised the canals on a boat, did a pub scroll, drank a lot...
Good weather in the Netherlands, so also Jazz Festival in Breda, days at the beach, a weekend boat trip with Barry and Karin and bbq at Mira's place. In between visiting my Brother and A to see how my nephew Alex is doing, meet & greet with my uncle from New Zealand and going on a Celebrate-our-20-year-friendship-weekend with Bianca!
Still living anti-squad in this appartment in Amsterdam-West. I am surprised and happy not having to move houses yet. Look like I can live here for as long as I want to (which is somewhere in July). After a few months break I also had Couch surfers staying over again, a group of Turkish friends and the week after a great portugese cook! Joao even brought me flowers! Bonus points, he can come by again when he wants ;-)
This month was also my birthday (7th of june), which I could now celebrate in the Netherlands. I took them to Vondelpark where we had an evening picknick with drinks, snacks, candles and music till late in the night! Afterparty in Bourbon Street café with a live band playing, we were kicked out at 05.00, to bed at 06.00. Turning 34 is not such a bad thing ;-)
Only 2 more weeks or work left and then all options open again...
Not decided what it is going to be yet. Different idea-balloons still in the air. Love to meet up with my dear friend Roman, who has come back to Europe for at least this summer, might buy a tracking bycicle to travel with (in stead of my motorbike), going to the Rainbow gathering in Europe/Poland/Italy, meeting up with people along the way...It will most likely not be back to Finland people, even though I had a great time there! Herrasmani will have to party without me this time! But never say never! One thing is sure: No working for a while, 6 months back into the structured life was long enough for now.
Of course I will keep you posted on any decisions made...
p.s. Andy, Did you get your licence already? Time to cross the canal and come over to write another story for our motorcycle diaries!
