Dear you,
Letting things slack means catching up again big time..
Which is what I really have to do now after not being in touch for over a month!
It has been a hectic, bustling month, full of events, new people and personal challenges. Although I loved it, I do feel it is time to slow down a bit and let self reflextion be a bigger part of my life again. But first let me tell you what I've been up to..
2008: Baby boom time. No not for me ;-))
Joris and Birgitte are now the proud parents of baby Hugo, whom I had the priveledge to hold when he was only a week old! A few days after Sietske en Ruben told me that they are expecting a baby next summer, Barry and Karin will be parents again as well, Olga is about to "throw out" the second one and of course my own brother and A only have a few more months "alone". Babies everywhere this year!
As for me, I am re-discovering Amsterdam and fully enjoying it. Went on a local pub crawl with Mier and Roel a few weeks ago, we discovered some weird places ;-) Something good came out of it though. Met this guy who is a bartender at this place called The Last Waterhole! A place to check out with live music all nights! Have done! It is my favorite now.
Not to clever to go wall climbing the day after with all that alcohol in our systems, but great to do anyway! And the good thing is, the place is around the corner from my house..literally!
Finally met up with Christa again, as we had lots to talk about since New Year. Thanks for carrying back the table with me ;-)) It was a another good "Found it"!
Carnaval: I may live in Amsterdam now, but of course I made my way south to celebrate this dress-up-festival with the Brabos! Being last minute as usual I was still working on my outfit in the train south..Friday night checking out Breda with Miranda and friends, going to Oosterhout the day after. Unfortunately Daisy was ill so we stayed at home that night, but made up for it on Sunday after the parade with the kids! It is hard to explain what is so great about this festival, most people only see it as a drink-as-much-as-you-can-party, but it is so much more then that! You either love it or you hate it, for me it is definitely the first option!
That evening my first Couchsurfer stopped by. After all the warm hospitality I was able to enjoy whilst traveling, I was eager to return the favour to fellow travellers. As I have a place of my "own" now, the possibility is there. Julean, an American musician, had the privilege to be my first guest. For those of you who do not know the concept. Look at this website: Through this site you can either look for a place to sleep for free anywhere in the world and/or offer your couch to a needy traveller. Easy, Fun and Interesting!
Love the concept, meeting new (international) people!
It was the start of a week with little to no sleep, good talks and frequent visits to The Last Waterhole! Julean turned out to be great company, I was very impressed with his jamsession performance. Thanks for your 4 signed cds!!! The day Julean left, Lino was waiting for me outside in the cold when I came back from work. In the few days we spend together I learned more about Madeira then he about Holland. Little reunion at the Waterhole, thai cooking lessons with A and Mira at her houseboat, portugese lessons, scary bicicle rides..only a few keywords for our time spend together! While he was off on his own, me and A, who came to visit me as well, discovered a bit of Amsterdam ourselves! Not too much walking though as she already has a belly the size of a basketball! Are you sure there is only one kid in there?
To top it all I have also joined a bellydance course! Only had 2 lessons so far, not a natural talent, but there is still hope as I have 11 more lessons to go ;-)) It's much fun to do, even bought one of those Indian belts which make lots of noise when you shake your hips. Well, whén I shake them ;-))) Decided to do this for several reasons as some of you know. Lets say it is part of my self reflection and development!
Also had my second regression hynotherapy session last weekend. No clue what to expect again. It turned out to be hectic, full of new insights and knowledge. I discovered, felt and learned! Went into a deeper hynotic state without realizing it. Connection with myself on a subconcious level. Finding answers to some of the questions I have and at same time dealing with this issue from the past. Very interesting and rewarding. I am very grateful Annemarie wants to continue these sessions even though she no longer needs a testee for her course. I am eager to learn more.
Lots more things I did and places I have been. The pics will give you an impression. And yes also did work a bit in the meantime ;-) Getting to know the company, the people and the database systems a bit better now. Great to see Mira on a daily basis, we even booked a ski holiday together. Finally I will be able to "race" down the slopes again, France here we come!
Till next time!
Big Hug,
Ma Tha Zin (Liekie)
