It is time to take the caravans back home...
Sunday night, after what I thought was going to be my last sauna, I am invited to come with Kari and Virpi to their place, an old house in Orimattila, about 40km away. This is where I am also typing this message from now. Yes, I have been staying here all this time (about 2 weeks)!
For a sauna addicted person, ME, it came as great news that we were going back to Herrasmanni to get the caravan stuff AND take a sauna there! Not once but 2 times that week! On Thursday, after a sauna with makkara (sausages) made on the sauna stones (yummi), it was really time to say goodbye to Mörri and Chalom
What else have I been up to?
Well, apart from daily life things like helping out in the house, doing the dishes, cleaning the windows and doing (food)shopping, not much else....no just kidding!
They have 6 horses and quite a bit of land, so always something to do around here. As I am here, might as well help with some of the jobs. But if I had known what it involved I might have kept my mouth shut ;-)).....as I was in for a shitty job!
As the winters are pretty cold here, the horses will not stay in the fields, but go to the winter places. Before they can be moved there, it needs to be cleaned first. Which means getting rid of the old hay, pissed on soil and shit....a lot of shit! So using a tracktor and shovels we tried to clear the areas, never been so mad at stones before, as they made the job a lot more difficult! But we got the job done and had a laugh in between as well! And the best part: I was allowed to try driving the tracktor! It is really fun to do!
Of course life is not only about work
Well not with me around anyway. When Kari took his karao equipment home with him, I joked we could have session at home to. When he showed me their huge outside cellar, a surprise plan was born. So on Friday when he was off for work, I cleared the cellar and turned it into a karaoke bar. That night we, the kids and some friends Virpi had secretly invited, had yet another great karaoke session! Have to have some Hauska (fun) in life!
I am sure I was the worst singer present, not only because I was trying my best at Finnish songs!, but more so because the other party members were all choir singers, and good ones to! I know, because I have heard them sing at their weekly practice evening! My dad would have loved to be there, it's his kind of music! Not that this stopped me from singing of course ;-)))
Saying goodbye to people at Herrasmanni...or rather See you later!
As I did meet some of them again. On Sunday we went to visit Jari and Karitta in their new home, where we also took (yes!!) another SAUNA, with (of course) MAKKARA after!
Later this week I went to visit Varpu and Juha in their home in Lahti to. After lots of talks and home-made pie (I am being spoilt big time here!) we took (yes really!) another sauna
Although I love to be here and it feels very weird to pack my bags again today, it is time to get on my motorbike again. I am going to Helsinki tonight to meet up with Tobias. One of the guys who was also at Suvi&Thomas wedding! He's here for business, I am here for fun, so combining the two makes a great weekend exploring Finland's capital!
Kari & Virpi Kiitos paljon for everything!
I am not leaving Suomi yet, so who knows we might meet up again ;-)
