As I not need to be at the wedding venue by the end of the afternoon, I take it slow, riding the small roads, stopping at one of the many many lakes in Finland for my self-made lunch, reading a bit more of THE book. When I go for a pee in the bushes, I squad down and am happily surprised to find a rasberry bush!!! Can tell you they tasted delicious.

Then finally after 2500 or so kms I make it to Iitti, where the wedding will take place. It's next to a lake, looking very cosy and romantic. As all the other guests check into their rooms, I set up my tent next to their building! Yes, had to explain myself a few times during that weekend. Els and her family were so kind to take my (wedding party) cloths with them and I was allowed to use their shower as well. Let the party begin!

Friday night bbq time at the Sauna place. At the end of the evening one of the staff asked me if we used the sauna. Well somehow, I cannot imagine all the guests strip down, having a beer in the sauna and dive into the lake afterwards! Well, for the Finnish this is very normal.
It was good night, met most of the people and learned my first words of Finnish. From the party some of us went into the afterparty in Thomas's parents place. Joris, I like to thank you for the comment on buying the I-pod music boxes: They came in handy several times already! Sjoerd, I like to thank you for the good music I was allowed to copy onto my I-pod. Scored big with the Danish crew having ' Saybia' in the playlist!

The weddingday itself was great as well. Finished the HP book (so now you are all allowed to talk about the ending of it :-)) and chilling out until the bus came to pick us up to go to the church for the ceremony. Thomas was waiting inside already looking handsome and then Suvi was walked in by her father, looking very beautiful as well! As always, being an emotional tard, tears were flowing, this time it was the vocalist singing that did the trick! Beautiful voice!

From the church to the venue again, having a dinner and speeches in between. In England is it apparently common to have a raffle (weddenschap) about the length of the speeches. Well, Thomas singlehandedly screwed it all up by making his speeche alone already lasting more than the maximum input (or almost anyway). So the winner was the one with the most estimated minutes. Good speeches though, tears flowing everywhere as well as on my face again.

Partytime in the evening with a very good Finnish band, singing mostly in English! Rock, foxtrot nicely combined. Everybody was in a spirited mood, dancing along. In between, according to Finnish tradition, Thomas had to sing a song to get his bride back and feel his way (blindfolded) around womens legs in surch for his wife's legs. He did very well! Exept for the fact that he made the comment 'hairy legs!' when he touched mine. Thanks Thomas!! :-)

Also this evening was a long one, as another small afterparty was happening. Being thrown out by an angry waitress, we made our way on the porch and afterwards managed to let ourselves be part of another finnish party at the sauna place. In the end only slept 2 hours, after what I can only say was a great night!

Sunday morning: well, not awake at all, saying goodbye to people, hopefully seeing some of them later again. Had a few hours sleep. Getting my stuff packed again as well and then Suvi and her mum came back to escort me to their cabin! Wedding weekend finished. more traveling to begin...
