Ni Hao from Macau! First of all I would like to apologize to the people of whom I forgotten their birthday! When traveling, awareness of time and date fades away, so I tend to loose track. Next time traveling I will put the birthday calendar in my yahoo account ok!
Also want to thank everyone for putting your replies on my weblog every time. Great to read them! Keep it up and enjoy your lives in between
As I had a look at this site it seems I have fallen a bit behind on filling you in on things. After walking on The Wall and buying my train ticket to Guangzhou I did some more sightseeing: Visited the Summer Palace. It consists of old temples and arches located around a beautiful little lake. As I entered I wondered what I the hell I was doing here amongst lots and lots of (Chinese) tourists. But as soon I walked further away from the crowds I could really get a good feel of the place. Then back to Mountainyoga center to spend my last days with the neighbours and Roman. After a great last veggie meal it was really time to say goodbye to Roman and my lovely temporary home. See you later world mate! I went back to Beijing for a night, not because I wanted to see this city so badly (too noisy and polluted), but to meet Adrian, the French guy I also met in Russia and Mongolia. While I was biking around Mongolia and doing yoga in China he managed to travel through Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and a bit of Thailand before flying back to Beijing to meet his father for a week! Talk about hardcore traveling. Anyway, we ended up seeing each other far too short, but 'What to do?' as I learned from a wise yogi I have the feeling we will meet up again in another country one day.
So I jumped into a Chinese train this time, with 3-bunk beds, 50 people in a carriage. I had the top bunk, but as I am small I could still kind of sit up to read a book and eat my noodles, also in China train food nr.1! My next stop: Guangzhou, south east of China, near Hong Kong. After a very relaxed 14-hour train journey (luckily someone knew how to switch of the VERY LOUD Chinese music!) and despite my snoring neighbour, I arrived kind of fresh at this sunny and humidly warm city. Augustin, friend of Miriam, was waiting for me already. Spend 2 great days with him, his girlfriend Olivia and Will exploring the city and trying out Cantonese food.
On Monday morning it was time to jump on the direct bus to Macao Airport. I decided to save me the hassle of changing busses at the border (Macao is an autonomous state, with own money and language). Did I already mention that the Chinese are very efficient? Well, the 'I-cannot-get-lost-sticker' was yet another of their efficiency inventions. Felt like a typical Chinese tourist following the guy with the umbrella up in the air! After the necessary checks I made it to the airport with hours to spare (yes me!!!!) to get my flight to Bangkok, Thailand. Yet again a new country with a new language, culture, food and most importantly my 'sister-in-law-to-be'...
