Today we slowed down and caught our breath for the rest of the Safari. Laundry started the day followed by a good chat with fellow Safari members over a long black (Kiwi coffee). We wandered through the shops in New Plymouth, saw some really cool modular housing units on display and walked a bit of the coastal walkway.

New Plymouth is a practical town with the requisite shops for an area center of commerce. In the middle of the downtown, at the coast there is a nice park with some original buildings, one outfitted like an early settler's cottage. The i-Site building (tourist info) has some nice exhibits including one on the Kiwi history of modular housing including some really cool design and engineering examples for modern modular housing. Across the road on the coastal walkway were some sample units that were really lovely and modern with sliding glass walls and high-end finish.

We enjoyed a sunny afternoon shopping, and enjoying the city. Then we met a bunch of other Safari friends at Salt, right on the water, for dinner.

A lovely and relaxing day. We'll be back in the air again tomorrow.
