Headed by bemo to the beautiful Gili islands today. Elizabeth came along with me. This is where I had planned to take my PADI dive course. What a place.....once we got there!!
The ferry was nothing less than a nightmare!! I actually leaned against my pack for the whole 4 hour ferry ride. Freaky feeling! We met a guy named Ken on the ferry, I think we were the only 3 non-locals on the whole boat!! After yhou make it throught the touts at the port, you need to find a seat in a hurry - so up 3 sets of stairs with the pack on to find a bench, Elizabeth had a suitcase - which didnt work out quite as well to say the least!!!
Once you get to the port in Lombok - we hired another Bemo to get to Siniggi for the night. Good thing for the Lonely Planet book! It was like a check list for these guys trying to rip you off!!! 'that place is full', 'that place is closed' , ' that place is expensive'.....on and on it went. I insisted on still going there, they weren't too happy - that means no commission for them at any other place they could take us!!
We stayed at Raj's homestay - it was great - with a cute little garden bathroom.
We met up with Ken (from the ferry) and had some dinner and Bintangs.
Off to the Gili's tomorrow!
