Where I stayed
Waya Lailai Eco Resort
Alarms sounded at 6.30am so wearily we got up for our bus to the port that would signal the start of our island hoppin experience around the Yasawas'!! We bought a 14 day bula pass for our boat travel and disembarked at our 1st point of Call....Waya Lailai.
You jump off the big yellow Yasawa Flyer boat and get met by a wee wooden boat (be more safe in a rubber dinghy we say) that we were convinced would sink in the choppy waters on the journey to the island!...Very amusing although we clung on for dear life!
Got to our slice of paradise....this resort is 100% Fijian owned, and everywhere you go they shout 'Bula' (Hello). As it was Sunday there was no welcome cermony due to it being their day of rest
Lunch was served and were we shocked to say it was yummy!! They beat a drum to invite everybody in and the Fijians are so smiley, chirpy and friendly! Definitely made us feel at home in their little island!
It was amusing (to say the least) when the lights and electric went off at 9.30 pm when everyone was down at the bar - so we had to navigate our way back to the dorm in pitch black with only our camera light for company!! It was so quiet & dark - not a glow of light anywhere! Definitely different from at home! No need to worry about sleeping with the lights on!
Tropical storms started this evening as well and so we had no option but to retire to bed, even if it was too early and we were not tired!
So that's today over with - these blogs are going to be very short, as internet is limited & we too busy lying on a hammock, watching the wavesgo by!! lol
