We left the beach and traveled to Ubud which is a remarkable town in the middle of the island of Bali. On the way we saw the beautiful terraced rice fields that we had pictured for so long.  We stopped at a Sumatran elephant sanctuary and played around with these massive creatures.  The kids loved it!
We stayed in Sayan in a spectacular room overlooking the jungle before heading to Borneo in Malaysia. 
Too short of a time in Bali to really immerse yourself in the culture but we did as much as we could in such a short time.  We loved meeting the local people...and learning about their unique culture.
