<Brian's brief chronological list of "highlights" (and of whinging)>
- Grabbed the hotel bikes and rode around the Lake Bled to see the island from the other side of the lake.
- Caught the bus, then the train to Ljubljana, followed by a train from Ljubljana to Vienna. This whole transit took about 12hrs... urgh.
<Lang's Extended Version>
As we hadn't had the chance to see the Island from the front view since arriving, we decided that the last thing we'd do in Bled before we left was to grab a couple of bikes and ride around the lake.. So after breakfast, checking out and leaving our packs at the pension, we set off on our leisurely ride..
A paved or gravel path around the lake made the ride so easy, we stopped many times to take pictures of the Church and Island, as well as the castle perched on top of the cliff. It was just amazing - an emerald green lake with a cute church on an island, the castle on top of a cliff and then the alps in the background - picture postcard perfect..
After about an hour riding around, we turned back to return our bikes and gather our packs again for our long journey to Vienna.. Firstly, a local postal bus to the train station, then a train back to Ljubljana and lastly another train onto Vienna.. The whole journey including transit times took us almost 12 hours, we were totally exhausted when we finally reached Vienna to check in..
Sometime during the transit from Bled to Ljubljana, I lost my jacket as it was clipped onto my pack.. Oh well, less to carry and the weather has been really warm lately anyway..
