PARADISE!!! I can honestly say I have never been to a place more beautiful than that here in Belize...
An island so like a carribbean one. The motto: go slow, oh what a luxury (though with the cost of internet and whatnot, Iīm going fast just now!).
Beautiful wee guesthouse on the beach, although, to be fair, with only three streets going up the island, you could see one side of the island from the other width wise (if no buildings). And not too long an island either!!
Got to do some diving tooo. Didnīt do the blue Hole - the spectacular site divers come here for, as fellow divers were either newly qualified (Jen & Nili) or hadnīt dived for years (Pierro & Fabienne) and we didnīt fancy the 5.30am start! So opted for Hol Chan Marine Reserve, apparently lush for wildlife and coral, and the others were all snorkeling there the same day, so woo!!
So we head out on the boat... though itīd been quite windy so things were pretty choppy. Now, I donīt get travel sick.. but just where we were going to do the first dive it was SO choppy.. got in the water pretty swiftly as was starting to feel unsettled! But getting out again - UGH i felt so very nauceous (I canīt never spell that word. Sick) so the nice boatie gave us some travel sick pills. And we did the second dive in calmer waters hurrah!
The dive was good - nice to be in warmer water again! BUT, first one there wasnīt much wildlife, and I have to say..the coral was pretty much brown, not as beautiful as Egypt! But we did see two nurse sharks, although was about to ascend so didnīt wanna go down again to get close for a brill photo (we hired an underwater camera woot) though Iīm wishing I had afterwards, ah well! Second dive we saw a few more fish and what not, and a couple of rays swam past, woo! But sadly no turtles, which is what the area is famous for :( But good stuff! Although worryingly, back on land looking at diving pressure groups we appear pretty off the chart from both dives. OOPS. But hey, Iīve no DCS, and all the nitrogen appeared to do to me was make me a wee bit out-of-it for the evening, so success!!
Oh, and I also managed to get some shortie wetsuit tan lines on my legs. Brill. Looks amazing. (Has still not faded - Guatamala!)
Paradise, I couldīve spent a few more days there enjoying it...
