Where I stayed
AO Srithanu Resort

Got off the ferry in Koh Phangan yesterday and got bombarded with the usual greeting of a group of Thai's asking "Where you go?" "where you stay?". It can get quite frustrating at times and always reminds me of the Tuk Tuk drivers in Bangkok. They don't seem to understand "I don't fucking know yet, leave me alone". Not that I would ever actually say that because they'd probably shoot me. Neither do they understand it when you ignore them, they end up following you down the street. So me and Luke ended up getting piled aboard some taxi that took us to this little resort on a beach called Ao Srithanu. It was the cheapest place we stayed so far. It cost just over a pound each for a night. Yeah unbelievable and it even had an en suite! It was actually the first place we've stayed in with a mosquito net as well which actually works.

We were woken up this morning by the loudest thunder I have heard and the rain pelting it down on the roof of the hut we were staying in. We left the resort and planned on heading North to Had Yao. After unsuccessfully haggling with a taxi driver over the equivalent of about 30p we ended up walking which was O.K I thought because it was "only" 2km and I could use the exercise. It wasn't the amount the taxi driver was charging but it was the principle and the woman in our resort had already told us how much it would be. I'm just fed up with the greedy Thais (not all of them - just the ones I've come across) who think that all foreigners are loaded so they get greedy and charge us ten times the price they would a Thai person. Anyway, rightly or wrongly I wasn't having any of it and ended up getting another reminder of how seriously unfit I am by sweating out of every pore and felt like just giving up and collapsing about four times in the ten minutes it took to get here. Turns out the 2km was 2km of what I would only describe as mountains. Anyway serves me right for being a stubborn tight prick Haha.

In the end it was definitely worth the trek though because we're now staying in a resort called Sandy Bay on Had Yao beach, Which as I'm sure my dads going to point out in his comment he feels obliged to leave that it is the same name as the place we used to go on holiday when we were younger. Its a bit hotter here than the one in Devon though. By the time we arrived the clouds had cleared and it was another roasting hot day.

Its definitely one of the best places we've stayed so far, and the others have been wicked. They just seem to get better! we have another bungalow on the beach. Although this time it was a little bit up market because it cost the equivalent of about 2 pints back home. Plan right now is to spend the next month beach hoping. Will probably stay here several nights because its sweeeet.
