"It's not something you are! It's something you have!" For any of you F.R.I.E.N.D.S fans out there who know what I'm talking about, I have Unagi! Or rather I have had Unagi (the Japanes food, not the karatee concept), which is a kind of freshwater eel and is really nice.

So since my last entry I left Hiroshima and went to Fukuoka where I rang Emma who said i could stay at hers. Then got the train down from Fukuoka to Kagoshima which is pretty much the furthest South city in Japan. Arrived about 8pm on Monday night

Spent three nights here. Done the sight seeing thing on Tuesday and Wednesday whilst Emma went to work. The most amazing thing I saw in Kagoshima was Sakurajima, which is an active volcano, although I didn't realise it was active until i saw the smoke coming out the top. My first thought was to leg it as fast as I could in the other direction because if its going to erupt you can bet its gunna be in the few days that I'm there. Although decided running was to much effort so Id'd take my chances and stick around. Think if I was going to live in Japan for a year like Roz and Emma I would prefer to be in Emma's position than on Roz's island simply because she has more to do in Kagoshima. Didn't really get to see Emma very much as she had to go to work in the day although went out with her and her two JET (the teaching program that Roz and Emma are on over here) friends Wednesday night. Went to the cinema with them to watch Brokeback mountain, which I ended up paying 1800 yen (9 pounds) to get in for because apparently i don't qualify for ladies night discount. Anyway I might as well have saved my money and just watched the trailer because not a lot happens in the film except for some gay sex scenes which i could have really done without seeing. Afterwards we went to a Japanese restaurant where you take the plates off of a revolving platform around the edge, which is where I had UNAGI!

The plan originally was to stay in Kagoshima for the week then head to Tokyo on Sunday where I would catch the Monday morning flight to Thailand however didn't really fancy travelling from Kagoshima to Tokyo, which i think is over 1100km (about 700 miles) in a day by train. So now planning on heading to Matsuyama to stay with Kate for a few days before heading to Thailand to meet my brother.
