Today we got up bright and early to catch our morning train to Prague. This train wasn't as clean or impressive looking as the Eurail cars in Germany. It was sort of dingy and had a faint odor to it. At least we had our own compartment. Also didn't get lost this time. =O)
Based on all the reviews I've read online, everyone warned about the taxi drivers in this city. So, since there were four of us and we each had pretty sizeable bags, we decided to attempt the cab ride anyway. We figured out a little later that we indeed were swindled but not by that much so we just let it slide. It's still cheaper than taking a cab from JFK to Manhattan! When we got to the hotel, we were not impressed. Not only was this place far from the hot spots but it was a HIKE to get to the nearest tram! The elevators had no doors...yup...you could trace the moving floors with your finger as the elevator went up. Talk about a lawsuit waiting to happen! LOL...I did enjoy the ride though. We didn't do too much exploring today. Our goal was to find a bank and run the necessary errands we needed to do, including supermarket shopping and getting metro tickets for the next days' rides. Dinner was a picnic in Denise and Melissa's room. We didn't feel like eating out since we were so exhausted. We just parked ourselves on her floor and had ourselves a pretty good time experimenting and tasting all of the things we bought at the supermarket. Tip...don't try the Kactus (yes that's the spelling) drink...unless you like the taste of liquid bubblegum!
