On Saturday we hopped a train for a short ride to nearby Nara. Nara is home to the biggest wooden building in the world (a temple which is actually only 2/3 its original size). It houses a big wooden Buddha who is surrounded by many other floating Buddha (not literally of course).

Nara is also home to countless tame (relatively speaking) deer. There's actually a bit of a sad matsuri that takes place earlier in the
year where they wrestle the deer to the ground in order to cut their
antlers. For 150 yen, you can buy some deer sembei (biscuits) and feed the deer. It was certainly a new sight for us to see. And all framed by more red leaves, aww!
