Pamukkale means "cotton castle".  Our day trip to Pamukkale started with eating breakfast at the hotel waiting for the bus to pick us up...meanwhile stray cats entertained us with some graphic mating near our table.
After our bus ride and lunch buffet, we toured the ancient city of Hieropolis (meaning "holy city"), visiting the cemetary and the upperclass tombs. We also saw a tumulous-a grave site covered with dirt and grass. A huge shopping centre, the Agora, used to be sprawled aross the nearby field, but all that remains after earthquakes and erosion, is a single column.
Our tour concluded with a visit to a natural pool and the stunning and strange limestone waterpools made form the high amounts of calcium in the water.

We returned in the evening, and spent the next day lazily hanging out in Selcuk, and buying important supplies for the long bus trip ahead (ie baklava and turkish delight).
