Marianne, my freind's aunt, drove to the on-ramp towards Nashville that monday morning. I had 7 easy rides to Nashville that day. My second ride (with Rob) was very funny, because he (as far as I understood it) drove me allmost 2 hours in the wrong direction of where he had to go. He gave me food on a KFC and afterwards did we have a little photo session. He liked to take pictures with his camera, so I had to be a model outside the KFC - and he used his whole film on me standing there. Before he sat me off did he wanted me to have his number, so instead of writing it on a piece of paper did he take of his watch, wrote the number on the leather band and gave it to me + he gave me 10 bucks to food.
Unusually did a get a ride from a single lady and her little baby, some very excited high school girls later on that day and then the local police who told me to get off the on-ramp and get on the interstate instead (I don't know what to think of that).
I didn't really have a place to stay that night, when I first came to Nashville. So I decided see if I maybe could find someone on the street or on a bar. But due to the fact that I'm not 21 - would it be a little harder to get in. So I actually walked a lot arond on the Nashville Broadway - just thinking about what to do with myself. No home fell down from the skyes and I actually took a one hour nap in a bush - but then I got too cold and went into a bar for the first time. 30 min after entering did I have a place to sleep. First I got freinds with the bartender, because he asked with I did with my backpack and afterwards did he introduce me to some of his freinds in the other end of the bar. A girl, Molly, said that I could sleep in her spareroom - so that was how my night turned out. The next day did she drive me to the library and I spend my whole day looking around in little Nashville. She had said that I should call her after she finished work at 10pm... But I first got in touch with her at 2am and then she told me that her boyfreind was upset about the danish hitchhiker in her apartment. So then I got homeless again and were that for the rest of the night.
I walked down the street to see what I could do with my life, when I started talking with an other "real" homeless guy, Joe. i didn't got sleep that night, because I walked around with him and I felt it interresting to see how homeless people spend their nights. He told me a little about why he had become homeless and then he took me to a shelter, where a lot of other homeless were to wait for coffee in the morning. It was only single-guys outthere and they had a little fun about me being from Denmark.
[I also broke my camera that night completely - and I don't know how - so from this day I had a camera until Stefan's arrival in D.C.]
The whole next day did I use to find places to take a nap - but all the time did i got kicked out. I called Raghav, an Indian guy who studied medical engineering, whom first had answered my mail that day. He was an other guy I had talked with via the - so I took out to his place in the afternoon and basicly just crashed for 12 hour by the moment I steped inside.
