9C and rain when we arrived, and 7C this morning!
We had forgotten that thee were such numbers on a thermometer, and as far as sun is concerned, you can stick Evora where the monkey stuffed the nut!
However, not all is bad.....just us feeling sorry for ourselves....
The trip from Espiche went well, although on the IP2 there are signs of how far Portugal's economy has collapsed. A new road was planned, bridges and flyovers were built, and then all work was stopped. The result is chaos, with roadworks all the way up to Beja from the A2, potholes, rough resurfacing and signs that the minimum is being done to maintain the road.
We arrived in Evora in good time, just as Snoopy said, and found a pitch, set up and were having a celebratory glass-of in quick time. C made a pasta for dinner, and we had an early night, after first switching the heating on for an hour!
Today, we have been into Evora. The trip started badly as we just missed the bus.....next one in 2 hours, so we took the car. Everyone says 'don't take the car into Evora', but it was ok, and we found a parking spot right outside the police station. Brilliant.....until a passing rozzer pointed out that the faded markings on the road, that I took for a sick, lame and lazy spot, were in fact reserving it for the rozzers! No probs, better than a fine, and we found another just down the street.
It was cool in Evora, but the sun was poking through, so I decided to go without a coat, which was ok.
Evora is one of those cities that were started by the Romans, and will be ok when the Portuguese get round to finishing it, which means it will crumble away for ever
We ended the day with a visit to Continente, a hypermarket outside the town.
We know how to live!
Ciao for now.....
